The Edge online magazine has reported that Guitar Hero 3: ” The Legend of Rock” has reached astounding $1 billion in total sales.
According to Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith, the Guitar Here game has helped regular guitar to sell better and popularized playing guitars among teenagers to extent where they are going back to school for guitar lessons, taking private courses and starting their own bands.
Surely, the Guitar Here has made me a rock star in front of my game console and left delightful feeling of being a guitar player after sweating the high scores on advanced levels. So, in the nutshell, the game itself proved to be psychologically pleasing breaking the bad fame shared by parents that games only hurt their kids.
“Gaming is changing the world of storytelling, the world of music and the world of entertainment in ways we never could have imagined a few years ago, and certainly not in 1972,” Griffith said.
The Guitar Here frainchise is still growing with new fan base each day. I wonder what would be the next “big thing” from the company and how it will stand up against its competitor, Rock Band?
